Xcel Energy
Xcel's Colorado DSM filings record Residential Heating & Cooling heat-pump refinements implemented April 13, 2026. A Colorado PUC-hosted Xcel program summary records the underlying measures: $750 per heating ton at 5°F for cold-climate air-source heat pumps, $300 per cooling ton at 95°F for non-cold-climate air-source heat pumps, and $1,100 per heating ton for ground-source systems.
The temporary multiplier and October 1 transition make current customer-facing totals time-sensitive. The site therefore labels the $2,250-per-heating-ton amount for final confirmation rather than calling it guaranteed.
Old Xcel PDFs remain indexed in search. A document labeled “2024 Rebate Summary,” legacy SEER/HSPF criteria, or old flat mini-split amount is historical evidence, not a 2026 rule.
Power Ahead Colorado
The official Power Ahead overview currently states a $1,500 rebate for an energy-efficient heat pump. Eligible projects are retrofits in existing single-family, multifamily, or commercial buildings in participating DRCOG jurisdictions. New construction is ineligible. An approved contractor must submit the project before work begins.
The initial phase focuses on cold-climate air-source heat pumps. The program says the rebate may be combined with utility or local incentives.
Colorado tax-credit discount
Colorado's enacted HB23-1272 schedules the air-source or VRF heat-pump credit at $1,000 for tax years 2026 through 2028, ground- and water-source categories at $2,000, and heat-pump water heaters at $250. The law generally routes the benefit through an eligible installer as a separately shown customer discount.
A 2025 proposal to end these credits after 2025 was postponed indefinitely. The current Department of Revenue form, equipment definitions, installer registration and any annual adjustment still need confirmation before a specific installation is represented as eligible.
Denver and federal programs
Denver's official residential page retrieved September 5, 2026 still says its heat-pump allocation was fully subscribed for 2025. That does not establish whether a 2026 cycle is open or closed. No current Denver residential dollar amount appears on this guide.
The IRS termination FAQ states that Section 25C is unavailable for property placed in service after December 31, 2025. The former $2,000 heat-pump credit should not appear in a 2026 savings stack.
